Alma's life

Switzerland

Switzerland is my favourite country in Europe. I first went there in 1985, to the capital city Bern and surrounding areas, but took very few photos, and they look somewhat old. In 1991, we went to Wengen, a little village up in the mountains where the only access is by a little mountain train. Indeed there are no cars in Wengen, which makes this cute little village with breath taking views an even more relaxing place to be. It was a fun and physical holiday, with hiking for hours on most days, to explore the surrounding areas, and a very spiritual time for me with those incredible views and the sharp fresh air, with the clean smell of pine everywhere we went. A real "mountain top" experience in all senses of the term.

While there we went to the highest train station in Europe, to the top of the Jungfrau mountain, we went on a boat trip on gorgeous late Thun, went to see the impressive Trümmelbach waterfalls, and so on.

In 1994, we took a small trip to another part of Switzerland, Geneva, as a family. Very different from Wengen and Bern, but very enjoyable as well. We mostly visited the city and the many churches.
