Alma's life

About Me

Alma

I'm a 45, married to a wonderful British man, and we have two teenage children who are aged 19 and 17. We live in the South West of England and really enjoy the area. Also part of our family are a cat and two gerbils.

I have always wanted to make a difference in this world, to make people's lives better in my own little way. So some years ago, we started sponsoring children in Third World countries through an organization called Plan International. I know we don't spend as much time as we should writing to our sponsor children, but I'm glad we can still make a difference in their lives. This is a cause that is very important to me, and I would urge everyone to sponsor a child. What seems like a little bit of money to us goes a very long way in these countries.

But my real calling from God is to Love His children who are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender, and to help repair the damage done by many churches who have rejected them and caused considerable hurt. There was a time when I wanted to do something really big to make a difference, but in time I found that while I can't change the world, I can change someone's world, and in fact many people's worlds... in my own little way.

I am not a materialistic person, and pay very little attention to fashion, looks and so on. I am a very spiritual person, but that is a side that I often keep hidden, until someone gets to know me well. And I love my friends ! It may take me sometime to trust someone and even to call someone a "friend", but when I give my friendship, it is for life and beyond.

My Christian Faith

My faith is extremely important to me, and the greatest gifts given to me by my parents have been their love, and their teaching me about God.

I have been Catholic for all my life, and love the Catholic church dearly. Yet, I often consider myself a Christian first and a Catholic second, as I believe that ALL Christians who love Christ and who believe that He died for them are my brothers and sisters in Christ, regardless of their specific denomination.

I don't consider myself a good Christian, but I do try my best to follow Christ's leading in my life, and to follow His teachings. And I often fall ! But I get up again and keep trying, knowing that God always forgives and deeply thankful that He always shows me mercy and grace.
